Ice Massacre Review

Okay so I wasn’t expecting much from this book, I’ve got to be honest. I didn’t love To Kill a Kingdom so wasn’t up for the killer mermaids again.

But. But. But.

Ice Massacre is brilliant. I was so invested in Meela’s story and how she sees the world. I literally couldn’t put it down.

It was always going to be interesting to stick 20 eighteen year old girls on a ship. I mean, it just screams drama. The book handled it so well, covering teenage friendship drama in a way that didn’t demonise teenage girls too much.

I loved Meela’s brain – and how she saw the mermaids as intelligent and maybe not all demons. I loved how the beginning of the book showed her childhood and how she met Lysi and had her little heart broken.

I loved how Lysi came back into the story later on.

The dynamic between Dani and Meela was also very interesting to follow. There were moments that were so emotional.

But yes. Tiana Warner has written an excellent book that is incredibly gripping and fast paced, and she’s not afraid to kill off characters either.

I’m so excited to read the best book, especially anticipating more Meela and Lysi together!
