Spinning Silver Review

This was a book I was really looking forward to reading! I even got a hardback!

The plot was so well developed and just like Uprooted, the writing was beautiful. But unlike Uprooted, I didn’t connect with the characters as much.

I enjoyed the multiple perspectives – they didn’t feel forced. Especially little Stepon, which was a surprise. Miryem was also excellent (I especially loved her parents). I liked Irina too, just not as much.

The romance that was brief and at the end felt a little rushed and if I’m totally honest, unnecessary.

I absolutely loved the magical setting, Naomi Novik is just wonderful at creating that spooky wintery atmosphere.

Overall, I much preferred the first half to the second, but still a stunning read.
